Technical Standards and Guidelines for E-Government
One of the most important aspects of the E-Government initiative is to ensure that all Ministries and Public Service Organizations make optimum use of ICT and derive the maximum benefit out of it. ICT is a field that offers a wide array of choices in terms of infrastructure and technology. It’s a dynamic field, where new developments are made every day, either improving upon the existing technologies or rendering them obsolete. Given this multitude of choices, choosing the best possible and the most cost effective solution in the context of the requirements is paramount. At the same time, consistency and uniformity in information systems and technology infrastructure across different public sector establishments in an E-Government initiative is crucial, in order to enable resource sharing, interoperability, scalability, consistent look and feel, user satisfaction all, ultimately leading to a reduced cost of ICT ownership. These objectives can be best achieved by laying down a set of ICT standards and guidelines for E-Government.
These Standards and Guidelines provides more detailed description on Security Policy Guidelines (Annexure A), Networking Guidelines (Annexure B) and Delivery channels (Annexure C).
